[Cryptospells] The explanation of basic rules – An article of strategic hints

Corne
Corne
Geeeez!
I have lost again!
It is too hard for me to have a command of all rules and win a battle!

Quon
Quon
I agree with your opinion.

Fao
Fao
I bet that you won`t be a winner.
Because you don`t understand any rules of this game.

Corne
Corne
I couldn`t find any details and explanations about the rule of this game.

Fao
Fao
That is true. Tutorials and detailed have still not been prepared yet.
In an article attached to our official weblog tells us the details of the rule of this game, but it seems so hard for the beginners to understand it at a first reading.

Fao
Fao
So, from now on, let me introduce you several of important tips which will help you grasp the rule of this game by making use of charts.

The screen layout during a battle goes on

Corne
Corne
Basically, it is difficult for me to get accustomed myself to the screen layout during a battle.

Fao
Fao
I see. It seems difficult for the beginners to understand it just by reading a rule book once. So, let me explain it by showing you the actual screen layouts.

Fao
Fao
Have a look at this screen layout. It will appear when you play a match against an opponent.
At your turn, you can call your monster from your hand to the battlefield and command it to attack.
  • ①LP: It stands for life points. You can reduce opponent`s life points by attacking and if it gradually dwindles away to nothing, then, you will win a battle.
  • ②MP: It stands for mana points. You can use your cards by using up mana points and it increases by 1 as your turn passes. The upper limit of accumulation is given as 10.
  • ③The number of left cards: You should pay attention to this.
  • ④The graveyard: Cards which you already use up will be sent to this place.
  • ⑤Your hand: You can pick up a card to use from here. The upper limit of the number of cards in your hand is regulated as 9. You can use your cards unless your mana points run out.
  • ⑥Monsters on your side: At a maximum, you can deploy 6 monsters in the battlefield on your side.
  • ⑦ Monsters on the enemy side: At a maximum, an opponent can deploy 6 monsters in the battlefield on his or her side.
  • ⑧Opponent`s hand:An opponent chooses a card to use from here.
  • ⑨Turn end key: If you click this button, the next opponent`s turn will begin. We establish a time deadline for each of turns and it is regulated as 30 seconds per each. When the time exceeds this deadline, the next opponent`s turn will begin automatically.
  • ⑩Information about opponent`s side: Pending a battle, you can confirm the amount of life points, mana points, the number of cards to use and cards in the graveyard on the opponent`s side.

Fao
Fao
The most important items which you should pay attention to are LP represented with ① and MP with ②.
If the amount of your left life points dwindles away to nothing, you will be defeated. Therefore, you need to do your efforts to think about a way, how to cause damage to your enemy as much as possible without incurring damage.

Quon
Quon
I barely understood it.
Because I was defeated when my life points hit bottom.

Corne
Corne
I am not familiar with “MP”.
It sometimes increases, but sometimes decreases. The cards which I can use at my turn depend on the amount of left MP.

Fao
Fao
You can use your cards by using up mana points, what is called as MP.
The amount of MP which you consume differs from the card to the card to use. In other words, you need to accumulate enough mana points to use a card.

Corne
Corne
I got it. So, I couldn`t use a card at my turn in the previous battle.

Fao
Fao
The upper limit of mana points is regulated as 1 point at first and it will increase by 1 point as your turn goes by. The sum of mana points will be recovered when you are in the next turn.
It means that you can use the cards only which claim low mana points to use at the beginning, but as your turn passes, you will be able to use the powerful cards consuming a lot of mana points to use.

Corne
Corne
I can`t wait for my turn passing until I call this monster looking so strong.

Fao
Fao
How dare you can say such a thing! Just wait till you pile up enough mana points to use it.

Corne
Corne
Nope, but, in a previous battle, an opponent called this monster at the initial stages of that battle.

Fao
Fao
There are some exceptions, but at this time, let us explain the basic rule of this game.
So, let me talk about the topic how to call a powerful monster at the early stages of a battle in another article.

Corne
Corne
Yeah! There is a loophole in the regulation!
I will be able to use this, “Giant of Mist” at my first turn!

Fao
Fao
I guess you won`t.

Quon
Quon
I am not familiar with information put on a card.
Several of numbers are there, but what kind of meanings do they have each other?

Fao
Fao
Indeed.
At the first time, I suppose that you couldn`t grasp the meanings of these numbers at a glance.
Now, I am beginning to explain how to take advantage of information put on a card by showing you charts and screen layouts.

About information on a card

About specifications on a card

Fao
Fao
About information put on a card, let us have a look at the card below.
  • Mana points: Mana points (MP) are required when you use your cards in a battle.
  • Attack: The extent of a monster`s striking power.
  • Stamina: If a monster`s stamina dwindled away to nothing, that monster would be wiped away on a battlefield and sent to your graveyard. Caution. When you command your monster to attack a monster on the enemy side, your monster will receive damage with like amount of striking power of that monster as the target of an attack.
  • The name of a monster and its special abilities: Special abilities are going to come into effect in various situations when the necessary terms are fulfilled.
  • Status: The status symbol of cards. It rises in rank with the order below.
Legendary, Gold, Silver, Bronze. It doesn`t have any effects on a battle.

Quon
Quon
The number shown in the bottom of the left indicates the extent of a monster`s striking power and another one in the bottom of the right points out its stamina.

Fao
Fao
If you want to command your monster to attack, please drag your monster`s icon and drop it on a monster as the target of an attack on the enemy side. You can reduce that monster`s stamina by the extent of your monster`s striking power.

Corne
Corne
This is it making me confused!
I did reduce the enemy monster`s stamina by two, but why does the monster on my side have to receive damage here?

Fao
Fao
That`s what I said as a rule of this game.
If you commanded your monster to attack upon an enemy`s monster, that monster on your side would receive damage with like extent of striking power of that enemy`s monster as the target of an attack. If things don`t work, commands to attack may end up in vain.

Corne
Corne
Really? Oh shit!

Quon
Quon
It is important to take a realistic attitude about this matter.

About special abilities of monsters

ファオ
ファオ
I suppose that you already understood the contents of information put on a card.
Next, let me explain the details of special abilities which monsters have.
Let`s have a look at this card again.

Quon
Quon
“Summon”: Enemy leader draw three cards.

Fao
Fao
“Summon” It means that this special ability is going to come into effect when you call this monster in a battlefield. If you used this card, an opponent player would soon draw three cards from his or her card pack.

Corne
Corne
Hmm?
Does it have something favourable to an opponent side?

Fao
Fao
Yes, it does.

Corne
Corne
Why do I have to use such a card?
It`s so useless.

Fao
Fao
Please check up the specifications of this card again.
The mana points which you consume is just given as 1 point though it boasts of its stamina as 6 points, you know?
It is cost-effective with a viewpoint of its stamina.

Corne
Corne
In compensation for being cost-effective, it has something favourable to an opponent. Right?

Fao
Fao
That`s what I said.
Such a card can be a double-edged sword. There are both benefits and disadvantages to it.

Quon
Quon
Could you explain the details of other effects? For example, like “frontline” and “Quick”.

Fao
Fao
Let me show you a summary of these effects.
  • Summon: It comes into effect when you use a card from your hand.
  • Aftereffect: It comes into effect when your monster is sent to the graveyard.
  • Frontline: If there is a monster with this effect in your position, monsters on the enemy side can`t attack your monsters unless an opponent player also have a monster with the same frontline effect.
  • Quick strike: If there is a monster with this effect in your position, it allows monsters on your side to attack at the turn which these monsters are summoned.
  • Double attack: If there is a monster with this effect in your position, it allows monsters on your side to attack twice per a turn.

Fao
Fao
When you summon a monster with the effect of “Aftereffect” or “Frontline”, these effects will be represented with icons shown below. So, they are so noticeable.

Quon
Quon
A monster with the “Frontline” effect bothers me a lot.
Until the one is wiped away, nothing can be done.

Fao
Fao
We should take advantage of a monster with this effect tactfully because it is so helpful to evade an attack from an enemy to our important monster.

Fao
Fao
In addition, we should take a monster with the “Quick strike” effect into account.
Usually, you can`t command your monsters to attack at the turn which these monsters are summoned. However, if there is a monster with this effect in your position, it allows monsters on your side to attack at the turn which these monsters are summoned.

Corne
Corne
It is so useful in a battlefield.
If I attempted to collect a lot of the monster cards with this “Quick” effect, would I be able to win a battle easily? It seems a piece of cake, doesn`t it?

Fao
Fao
What you say is not altogether bad.
The strategy which you use a lot of monsters with this “Quick strike” effect will be suitable for the beginners because it is easily understandable.

How to proceed a battle

Fao
Fao
From now on, I am beginning to explain how to proceed a battle.

Corne
Corne
Hey Fao!
Can you train me enough to win a battle?

Fao
Fao
It seems impossible for me to do so.

Corne
Corne
How dare you can say such words?
Why? Why do you feel so?
Oh! Do you imply that I am feebleminded?

Fao
Fao
A few seconds ago, you admitted that you are kind of an idiot.

Corne
Corne
I didn`t do anything like that.

Fao
Fao
Even though Cornet is feebleminded, I have no choice but to admit that there are tremendously huge amounts of things to be learnt before we play this game and win a battle. Therefore, it is difficult for me to explain everything at once.

Quon
Quon
Even though Cornet is kind of an idiot, it seems so hard for us to achieve a complete mastery of the rule of this game at once.

Corne
Corne
Even though I am feeble minded, even though I am kind of an idiot. Even though, even though! Shut it up!

Fao
Fao
I will introduce you tips for the good composition of your card pack and how to cope with the problems in a battle later. So, now. All you do is to be familiar with the basic rules which I already mentioned above and just keep in your mind what I am going to tell you below.

Fao
Fao
Just attack a chief monster on the enemy side without paying attention to other things!

Quon
Quon
Wait, do you do nothing for other monsters?

Corne
Corne
Why not attack other monsters on the enemy side?
If we leave all the other monsters unhunt, there will be a heavy price to pay.

Fao
Fao
It`s rare that things go smoothly from the start.
During the early stages of a battle, you should use cards as many as possible and command monsters to attack a chief monster on the enemy side without paying attention to other things.
If an opponent player thinks of monsters on your side as troublesome, that player will begin to attack for your side and then, learn how to win a battle by stealing the knack of battle from that opponent player.

Fao
Fao
I recommend that you should learn something useful from opponent players through battles.

Corne
Corne
Geez, I don`t want to be a slavish imitator.
I prefer to find an original way to win a battle rather than to steal the tricks of other players.

Fao
Fao
I know you are kind of lazybones. How dare you can spit out such words!

Corne
Corne
Sorry.

Fao
Fao
You shouldn`t do a behaviour like “monkey see, monkey do”. Do not forget the fact that you should learn useful tips to win a battle from opponent players.

Quon
Quon
I also have a thought that getting the knack of battle from opponent players will be helpful to improve your level as a game player.

Fao
Fao
Let`s review the contents which I explained above. During the early stages of a battle, you should attack a chief monster on the enemy side without paying attention to other things and at the same time, try to get the knack of battle through observing how an opponent player turns the tide of a battle in his or her favour.

Fao
Fao
Let me add a few words at the end of this lecture.
At the first time, I recommend that you should select this monster called as “Falltgold” as a chief monster of your card pack because specifications of it are simple and it will be suitable for the beginners. This monster belongs to the Red civilisation.

Fao
Fao
I suppose that you can get accustomed yourself to battles through using a card pack belonging to the Red civilisation at first. Of course, you can gain new cards to reinforce and customize your card pack and try to use a card pack classified as another civilisations.

Quon
Quon
Ok. Let`s play a match.

Corne
Corne
Quon!
I have a whim to take on you.

Quon
Quon
Why not? Let`s!

Fao
Fao
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Fao
Fao
I feel something anxious.
I guess that a squabble will occur.
Anyway then, just let them quarrel each other if they want.
